I conceived the idea of the Rocking Glass after watching an old movie about propeller aircraft. The old aircraftproduced a lot of vibration therefore the glasses and tableware were designed not to spill. That's how the idea of the Rocking Glass arose. Besides the fact that it's rocking function is fun, the glass is also a sensuous experience. The rounded shape gives you the feeling of holding a sphere in your hand, and when you put it down, the rocking movements call forth a smile. The Rocking Glass is sturdy - made to last. You can put just about anything in; coffee, tea, drinks, snacks, tea lights or a little flower.

The story of Norm 69 is the story of a chance encounter, a long struggle to find the right materials, and ultimate success. Back in 1969, Simon Karkov designed a lamp kit. The lamp had 69 parts, and was visionary in its ideas and modernist in its expression. We were sold on the idea right there.

Soon it became clear that the existing material was not durable. When you assemble a lamp yourself, it's important that the material is flexible and tolerates being bent many times. The subsequent development process was time-consuming, but the result was a strong and flexible product that copes with wide temperature ranges. An important consideration as we export to many different countries; the lamp must work equally well whether it hangs in Greenland or Hawaii.

Rikke Hagen explains

I wanted to craft a cognac glass. The perfect gift to the man, who has everything. The inspiration springs from my own perception of when you drink a cognac; that is when you have time and in calm surroundings. I wanted the glass to give the user a feeling of a gentleman's study and at the same time, the sense of calmness you get when you e.g. fondle a stone. The stem kept irritating me. I took the consequence andcut it off. That's how my Cognac glass was born.

We are in love with clay as a material and try to raise ceramics to new heights.We would like to change people's fixed ideas about clay. It is one of the world's oldest materials and deserves to be modernised and re-evaluated. During the development phase of the vase Grass, we carefully hand modeled all of the details. A small and humble flower can become important in Grass. The flowers grow in grass, so for us it was natural to surround the flower with grass. But Grass can also stand alone and just be.

Mormor Blue - Carafe

Modern Kitchen Clichés

The Mormor series is made for the modern kitchen and dining table using ceramics as its point of departure, and it definitely applies to the traditional kitchen. Not only that, structures and patterns along with familiar kitchen items such as cloths and dishcloths are contained in the visual expression of this series.

The inspiration is textiles and the things that we are accustomed to surrounding ourselves with when in the kitchen. With this in mind, Gry Fager has incorporated the enjoyment of food and the table as a focal point in which time and togetherness are important qualities.

Mormor has a simple idiom which addresses function and underlying inspiration. It consists of a humorous and functional series for breakfast, lunch or for a picnic.

The Mormor series comes in three different motives; Mormor Blue, Mormor Ribbed and Mormor Square. Mix the different parts in whatever combination you want.

Gry Fager explains

I really like combining different things. What motivates me is developing good ideas for everyday things which people enjoy using and having in their homes. To me the aesthetic is a matter of course and its function is a must. With Mormor, the kitchen is the place where everything starts, the central nervous system of the house where people all gather. I have been inspired by the atmosphere and the character of the kitchen, particularly older kitchens from my grandmother's time and I have transferred the kitchen clichés into a modern context.

Ole Jensen explains

One day, while washing up in my kitchen, I felt reluctant to put my fragile porcelain and glass straight into the stainless steel sink. I also noticed that the sink's shape wasn´t flexible. I came up with the idea of a washing-up bowl that should adapt its shape to whatever object is laying in it. The result was a washing-up bowl made out of rubber. Rubber allows the bowl to adopt its shape to the content as well as function as a soft cushion compared to steel. Furthermore, the rubber material makes it easy to store.

Wine accessories in a natural design

Warmth, proximity and humour are the essential features behind Wine Cork Pourer, designed by Aurélien Barbry. The expression is organic, the function clear. The source of inspiration was traditional wine production, in which cork was used to seal the bottle.

Aurélien Barbry explains

My designs are based on objects in daily use. I redefine their use, and find new shapes and expressions to give new life to the object. Often, when you just drink one glass of wine a day, you lack a decorative, yet functional, stopper for the wine bottle. I think that it is interesting to use cork, which is an honest material, traditionally used as to seal bottles, for a series of Wine & Bar. For me, cork radiates a warmth and gives the series its natural look. Wine & Bar celebrates both the daily meal table and dinner parties
